The Foundation Trials – Testing “La Mer” foundation.

The lucky first trial goes to La Mer The soft fluid long wear SPF 20 foundation. I only wore it for 6 hours although it claims “long wear” so I should have given it a bit more time. But today is Sunday and I was craving an early night home as I have been traveling so much within the last weeks. So here is the verdict: although the shade I picked was a bit light for me (Linen) it applies nicely but not as buildable as I would want it to be. I ended up with a medium coverage (applied with a Beautyblender) which was acceptable for a casual Sunday. It is a very natural finish. My skin tends to be a bit dry after long travel so it didn’t give me much moisture although I prepped my skin quite well. It didn’t move or change throughout the day and didn’t oxidize. It doesn’t do much to cover pores or texture but overall a nice finish. Here is the worst part: it smells like most La Mer products, a scent unlike anything you’ve smelled, unfortunately I hate it. And it doesn’t really go away, it kinda lingers. It’s this bizarre aroma of a very weird perfume mixed with one of those very powerful herbal balms your grandma keeps in her medicine cabinet. I’m sure some of you may like it, I’m not a fan. I like that it has SPF 20, it didn’t cake or settle into creases. If it wasn’t for the scent, I would definitely wear it.
